What to do if you're denied Shopify Capital (or never get the invite)
Shopify Capital only reaches merchants Shopify has already selected. If you applied and were turned down, or you have never seen an offer on your Finance page, here is what determines that outcome and what you can do next.
Why Shopify Capital denies applications, or never extends an invite
Shopify Capital eligibility is not something you apply for directly. Shopify's own eligibility documentation states that an underwriting model reviews your store automatically, weighing sales volume, the frequency of sales days, total order count, payment history, and any failed debits for Shopify Services. If your store prequalifies, Shopify emails you and posts a notification on the Finance page of your admin. If neither has happened, the model has not selected you, and there is no separate application route to request one.
Shopify also states directly that receiving an invitation does not guarantee funding. A second review happens after you apply against an offer, and that review can still turn down a request even after you were invited. Shopify does not publish a specific revenue minimum, a chargeback ceiling, or the weighting of any factor in its model, so there is no published number to hit. What is published: your store must be located in an eligible country (the United States, Canada, Australia, or the United Kingdom), your Shopify subscription must be active, and you generally need at least three months of selling history or a first sale more than three months ago.
In practice, sellers report being turned down or never invited for reasons that map to what Shopify says it reviews: inconsistent sales, a short operating history, high dispute or chargeback activity, or simply falling outside the four eligible countries. Shopify does not publish denial statistics or a breakdown of why any individual application was declined, so treat the above as what Shopify's documentation says the model considers, not a guaranteed checklist.
Alternatives to Shopify Capital
If Shopify has not made you an offer, the options are to keep trading and wait for its model to reassess you, or to look outside the Shopify admin. Here is how the leading options compare on published terms as of September 2026.

Why it can help denied sellers
Onramp underwrites on your combined sales across every platform you connect, not Shopify sales alone. A seller who sells on Shopify plus Amazon, Walmart, or another channel is evaluated on the full picture, which can qualify a store that Shopify's Shopify-only model would not select.
What sellers say
From Trustpilot. Onramp Funds has a 4.2 rating across 232 reviews. Trustpilot does not tag reviews by selling platform, so these are drawn from Onramp's general review base rather than reviews specifically marked Shopify. Summaries are paraphrased from verified and public Trustpilot reviews.
Applied, received multiple offer options within 24 hours, and had funds transferred the next day. The rep was responsive to every question and the finance team went above and beyond to find the right fit. Initial fees were on the higher side, but expects those to come down with repeat business.
The team worked hard to understand the business needs and made funding as easy as possible. Always quick to respond. Gets offers from other funders regularly but chose to stick with Onramp because they listen to what the business actually needs.
Everything about the process was fine, but the effective cost was higher than expected. After taking the advance, realized the fee worked out to a much higher annualized rate than the headline number suggested on a short term.
Frequently asked questions
Why was I denied Shopify Capital?
Shopify does not publish individual denial reasons. Its eligibility documentation says an automated model reviews sales volume, the frequency of sales days, total order count, payment history, and any failed debits for Shopify Services, and a second review happens after you apply against an offer. Receiving an invitation does not guarantee funding, which Shopify states directly. There is no appeal process and no application queue to join on your own.
Can I get funding without Shopify Capital?
Yes. Onramp Funds does not require an invitation from Shopify or anyone else. It publishes its own eligibility criteria (at least $10,000 in average monthly sales, 6 months of selling history, a U.S. business entity, no personal credit check) and you can apply directly at any time.
Does Onramp Funds require an invitation?
No. Unlike Shopify Capital, Onramp Funds is an open application. There is no internal model deciding who gets to apply. Any seller meeting the published criteria can connect their store and see an offer, typically within about two hours.
What platforms does Onramp Funds support?
Nine platforms: Amazon, Shopify, Walmart, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Squarespace, Shopline, TikTok Shop, and Stripe. Onramp underwrites on your combined sales across every platform you connect, not any single channel in isolation.
